Inaluxe Love

"Atlas 39" by Inaluxe

"Atlas 59" by Inaluxe

"Kindred Spirits" by Inaluxe

I am a HUGE fan of Inaluxe prints and when I saw 'Atlas 39' on their blog this week, I knew I had found the perfect print to go on the wall above my dining table.  Bright, geommetric, with a bit of texture thrown in, this is right up my ally.  I recently bought 'Kindred Spirits' and was so pleased when it arrived in the post - the cute stickers on the packaging and little note telling me to have a 'super fine day' were lovely touches and at $33 a print, you're getting a total bargain.  You can find this Victoria-based couple's work here.

Apples and Berries

Top - Topshop | Jeans - Cotton On | Shoes - New Look | Necklace - Urban Outfitters (also available at Sports Girl | Bracelets - ASOS and gifted | Ring - H&M | Nails - Nails Inc London 'Shoreditch'

The fact that I actually got dressed today was up there in the top 3 key events of this weekend.  Reluctantly cleaning the bathroom and watching back-to-back episodes of Hart of Dixie were equally noteworthy occurances (on a side note, I seriously need to start taking notes on Zoe Hart's wardrobe - amazing).  I'm trying to save as much cash as possible in the run-up to my best friend's wedding in the UK, so hibernating seems like a sensible option, particularly when the weather is cooling down here in Brisbane (batten down the hatches people - it was a positively arctic 21 degrees today).  In an ode to the season I opted for autumnal colours, with a mix of gold and silver jewellery, because controversial is my middle name. Clearly. Speaking of jewellery, a girl at work thinks this necklace makes me look like a superhero (in an Iron Man-esque kind of way).  Not quite the look I was going for, but I'm pleased it was a talking point. I think...

P.S Wishing my beautiful little sister over at Nash Block a happy happy birthday xxx

On Display

I'm always on the look out for ways of storing jewellery that don't involve me having to rummage through a tangly mess, and allow me to see what I have so that I don't forget I have it (I suffer the occasional bout of fish-memory so I welcome anything that helps!).  This jewellery board was really easy to make - just a cheapo cork board and some white paint and pins - and now I can easily see my favourite pieces. Admittedly, it's not big enough to display all of my stuff, but I figure I can just change it up with my newfound favourites as I feel like it.  If you have any other novel ways of storing jewellery, let me know!

Yes, deer

Shirt - H&M | Shorts - Bardot | Shoes - Payless | Bag - Dotti | Necklaces - Valley Girl and Diva | Ring - Jeans West

Today, a herd of tiny deer have made themselves at home all over my shirt.  And I kind of like it.  They make me think of driving through Richmond Park on crisp autumn mornings back when I used to study in the area, which then reminds me of home.  So yes, deer, you can stay.

Night Watch

Recently, a few friends and I decided to have a spontaneous night photography session.  Crazy cats that we are, we took to the mean shores of Shorncliffe on a Saturday night in our hoodies, brandashing tripods. After a lot of trial and error (and some very blurry photos), this was my favourite shot from the evening - I love how strong and star-like the lights are.  I'm taking quite a shine to this photography malarky...

The geeky details: taken on a Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens, 15 second exposure, f/11, ISO 800.

Rogue Elements

Top - Valley Girl | Skirt - Topshop | Shoes - Tony Bianco | Bag - New Look | Necklace - H&M | Bangles - Primark | Ring - Diva | Lips - Revlon 'Hot Coral' | Nails - Bourjois 'Tangerine Fatal'

I'm still slightly in awe of this Queensland weather, even after a good year and a half.  It's the middle of autumn, and I'm cavorting around in a wisp of a skirt with thigh high splits in 27 degree sunshine.  It confuses me, but I love it!  Dressing is so much easier when you don't have the cold and wet to contend with.  Although, in this skirt, it's pretty easy for a rogue gust of wind to bring on an impromptue 'Marilyn' moment (minus the glamour) so I have to wear with caution....

A Happy Accident

I had to take a snap of these pretty strung lanterns last week as I wondered around Southbank (a bit aimlessly I have to admit - I blame my friend's beer drinking antics the night before!).  It was the Buddha's birthday festival and although we most certainly didn't come away enlightened, we did come away with this actually-quite-accidentally-good photo that I literally took with my eyes closed.  Maybe finding angles where the sun blazes directly into my squinty face is the way forward for my photography...
